How to license your software
Licensing concerns these situations:
- You are installing new software (e.g., a communication module).
- You are confirming the license of software you installed recently.
- You are upgrading your software.
We will go through the steps of every situation, beginning with the situation for new software.
Installing new modules
When you install new modules (or other TIE Kinetix software) you need a to enter a serial number during the installation procedure; the installation process will not continue without a serial number. You can get a serial number when you request a license for the software you like to install. To request a license, contact our sales department. They will help you with all the necessary details, and provide you with a temporary serial number.
Confirming the license of software you installed recently
Prior to the installation of your new software you received a trial license for the software. If you are happy with the new software and would like to prolong the usage, you can request a full license using the TIE Kinetix’s License Manager. This program is installed together with SmartBridge. After we reviewed your application, you will receive a license file to finalize your request.
Step 1. Requesting a full license
- From the desktop, click Start > Programs > TIE > TIE License Manager.
During the installation of the application you may have configured the system to use the Licensing server on a remote machine. Make sure to start License Manager on the machine running the Licensing server. The TIE License Manager Main screen appears, showing an entry for the application you installed:
Notice that the entry appears in yellow, orange or red, indicating that the application has been installed with a temporary license that will expire in less than 30 days. You must now request a full license for the application. - Right-click the application and choose Request License from the popup menu:
The License Manager will attempt to connect to the TIE Kinetix’s Licensing Processor located on a TIE Kinetix Web server. If the connection fails (for example, you may be offline), a message appears indicating that License Manager could not connect to the Licensing Processor. In this event, request the license offline as explained later on.
If the connection is successful, the TIE License Manager – Request License screen appears:
The Request License screen displays information about the application you installed and enables you to specify various settings pertaining to the license you are requesting.
The Request License screen is divided into the following areas:- Client information
